That’s right, If you have North Carolina Homeowners Insurance and own property in N.C. You Will Subsidize Beach Hurricane Losses…

House bill 1305 is creating a new assessment that will force all property owners insurance policies all across the state to pick up the tab.

That means your homeowners insurance policy can be assessed or increased to pay for hurricane losses to beach property.

Currently the bill limit’s the amount of this storm assessment to 10% of your total annual premium on each property insurance policy, but the wording is vague about how long they can continue to make you pay this assessment.

Also, if there are multiple storms, you will pay multiple assessments on your policy. Ten storms = 100% increase.

Example letter, you could easily copy and paste:

Hello (Governor, Lt. Governor’s Name),

I’m writing this email so that my voice will be heard about an increase in my homeowners insurance or an assessment and I don’t want this law to pass.

I don’t believe it’s right or fair to force every home owner in North Carolina to pay an assessment on their homeowners insurance for the people that choose to live or have property at the beach.

Especially a 10% increase for each storm when there could be multiple storms each year. I’m very disappointed about House Bill 1305. Please tell me how you voted for House Bill 1305 and why. I want you to raise the rates on the beach property owners, not me.
