It’s Your Responsibility As A Parent!

September 03, 2009 | admin | Comments 3

It’s Your Responsibility As A Parent to teach your children safety tips. This isn’t a one time lesson, this is an ongoing process so please talk with your children everyday and teach them because if you don’t, no one else will.

Here’s a few safety tips:

  1. Whenever you are out shopping with your children, talk to them and teach them to stay close to you. Always go to the restroom with them, someone could be waiting on them in a bathroom stall, even when you’re at church. Remember 95% of child molesters are known to the parent of the victm child. Child molesters are very smart, don’t under estimate them.
  2. All parents need recent photo’s of your children. Take notice of what your child is wearing on a daily basis, color of shirt and pants, shoes, etc… Identifying scars. Teach them it is NOT ok to go with anyone without your approval, some child molesters lure children with money, dogs, cats, candy etc… No adult should ever need a childs help for anything. Do some role playing and ask your child “what if questions” and see how they react. Remember this is an on going educational process not a one time thing.
  3. If your child is abducted, let them know its ok to do things, that normally wouldn’t be ok to do, like:
  4. If they’re in the front seat of a car, teach them its ok to jam (chewing gum or anything else they can find) into the ignition switch so that the abducter can’t start the car. Or teach them to grab the keys.
  5. If the car is running, teach them to press the gas or brake pedal or pull the sterring wheel to cause an accident to draw attention to them.
  6. If they are in the trunk, teach them to kick out the tail lights or pull the lights out of the sockets so that law enforcement will pull the car over for no brake lights or turn signal lights.
  7. Let your children know that its ok to do these things when they’re in this situation, it throws off the abducter because most people and children are predictable. If you do things out of the ordinary it throws the abducter off guard.

    Daryl,
This information is very helpful! I didn’t even think about the fact that most child molesters KNOW the parent! That’s crazy. I’m glad you have a PASSION for making people aware of this danger.

    Keep rockin man,
    Ryan

    Daryl,

Great information! Another tip: If a car pulls up and the stranger asks for directions have your child run the opposite way the car is headed
